On Sunday, July 21, the officials of the State Border Guard prevented 26 people from illeggally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total 3301 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.
49 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 26 border violators were found on the external borders, including:
• One foreigner was found with forged documents
One Uzbek citizen leaving Latvia by car was detected at the Grebņeva border control point, who presented a fake Uzbek driver's license to the border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. As part of the criminal process, the forged document was removed.
• Entry into Latvia was denied to 11 foreigners
Three Moldovan and two Georgian citizens were denied entry into Latvia at the Grebņeva and Riga airport border control points because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, while at the Terehova border control point one Ukrainian citizen was denied entry into Latvia because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, one Ukrainian and three Moldovan citizens, because the foreigners did not have valid travel documents, and one Moldovan citizen was denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. Persons returned to the countries of departure.
• Three foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence
At the Terekhova, Pāternieki and Grebņeva border checkpoints, two Belarusians and one Russian citizen were found to have violated the conditions of residence (they did not have a valid visa or residence permit, the period of residence specified in the visa was exceeded) in the countries of the Schengen area. The aforementioned persons were brought to administrative responsibility.
• One Latvian citizen is prohibited from leaving the country
At the border control point of Riga Airport, one Latvian citizen traveling to Turkey was found without a valid travel document. The person is prohibited from leaving the country.
During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for three persons - two citizens of Lithuania and one citizen of Estonia.
Officials of the State Border Guard have called 20 persons to administrative responsibility or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and navigation equipment - five from Belarus, four from Kazakhstan, three from Lithuania, two from Belgium, one from Latvia, one from Russia, one from France, one from Moldova, one from Ukraine and one from for a German citizen.
