On Wednesday, July 17, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3117 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 60 offenders at external borders and within the country.
23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Moldova entered Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged Ukrainian driving licence, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners
at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and two – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners
three citizens of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, two – of Tajikistan, one – of Georgia and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by the citizen of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Turkey, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child to leave the country independently, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons - three citizens of Russia, three – of Lithuania, two - of Estonia, two – of Armenia, two – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, six – of Uzbekistan, three – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Lithuania, one – of Denmark, one – of Moldova and one – of Germany.
