On Thursday, February 1, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country.
16 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and two – of Ukraine due to security reasons; as well as to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Russia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Belarus, one - of Ukraine and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Ukraine was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving the country, who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Latvia and one - of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Turkey and one – of Germany.
