On Monday, February 12, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Riga Port, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia (seaman) due to security reasons. Regarding the seaman, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship's captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in the port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, six - of Uzbekistan and two – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – five citizens of Estonia and two – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Kazakhstan, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Moldova and one - of Uzbekistan.
