On Saturday, 13 August, 2022 officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 47 offenders on both external boarders and within the country.

20 trespassers were detected on external borders, including:

  • two foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Ventspils board, one citizen of Eritrea, who presented a forged Portuguese passport to the border guards and one citizen of Iraq who presented a forged Italian passport to the border guard were detected. Criminal proceeding have been initiated for the use of forged documents. Forged documents were confiscated as part of the criminal proceedings.

  • one wanted person was detained

at the Ventspils board one citizen of Latvia entering Latvia from Sweden who is wanted by the police was detected. Man, born in 1994, was arrested and handed over to the State Police officials.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused for nine foreigners

at the „Terehova”, „Grebņeva”, „Pāternieki” and „Riga” Airport border control points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused for three citizens of Russia, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan and one citizen of Azerbaijan, as foreigners were not in a possession of valid visas or residence permits, one citizen of Moldova, as person could not justify purpose and circumstances of his travel, and one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner is prohibited from entering and staying in the territory of the Schengen countries. Persons were returned to the country of exit.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen area were violated by 4 foreigners:

at the “Grebņeva” border control point 4 citizens of Ukraine, who have violated conditions of residence of the Schengen area (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa) were detected. Persons are subject to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 citizens of Latvia

at the “Riga” Airport border control point one citizen of Latvia departing to Manchester without a valid travel document for traveling to the Great Britain was detected. Person was prohibited from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected by four persons - two citizens of Lithuania, one citizen of Estonia and one citizen of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicles and vessels operation, 23 persons were subjected to administrative liability or refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia - seven citizens of Belarus, seven citizens of Russia, five citizens of Latvia, two citizens of Ukraine, one citizen of Israel and one citizen of Moldova.
