On Wednesday, February 14, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay, as well as to two citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

one citizen of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan and two – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Russia, one – of Latvia, one – of Belarus, one – of India and one - of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Serbia, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Armenia, one – of France, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Moldova.
