On Friday, February 16, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 22 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Kirgizstan and two – of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the foreigners was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, who was not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent to the child's departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Russia, one – of India, one - of Estonia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Moldova, three - of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Spain and one – of Ukraine.
