On Saturday, February 17, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country.
11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
At the Grebņeva Border Control Point one citizen of Germany, who presented to border guards a forged Bulgarian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal proceedings.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen Member States during the previous 180 days, and one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Russia was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the Pāternieki Border Control Point two minor citizens of Latvia, who were not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent to the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, two - of Estonia one – of Latvia and one – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Moldova, two - of Belarus, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Ukraine.
