On Tuesday, 18th of October, the State Border Guard officers had detected 44 offenders at the external borders and within the country.

At the external borders, 22 border offenders were detected, including:

  • Six foreigners were refused entry to Latvia

One Russian citizen was refused entry to Latvia at Terehova, Silene, Paternieki and Grebneva border control points because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit and one Moldovan citizen was refused entry to and stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries. Four other Russian citizens have been refused entry to Latvia for security reasons. They were returned to the country of departure.

  • Four foreigners were found in breach of residence conditions

Three Russian and one Ukrainian citizens were found at the Grebneva, Terehova and Silene border control points to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed visa, no valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. They were held administratively liable.

  • Four Latvian citizens were refused exit from the country.

At the Riga Airport border control point, were detected two Latvian citizens departing for London and one for Leeds whose documents were not valid for departure to Great Britain as well as one Latvian minor departing for Antalya who did not have a notarised consent of at least one parent for the child's independent departure from the country. The persons were refused exit from the country.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, six persons were found to be in breach of the rules on entry or residence - two Lithuanian, one Azerbaijani, one Turkish, one Ukrainian and one Uzbek citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 16 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - three Russian, two Belarusian, two Lithuanian, two Kazakh, two Tajik, two German, one Latvian, one Estonian and one Moldovan citizen.
