On Tuesday, February 20, officials of the State Border Guard detected 3 attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 23 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 22 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

7 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Tajikistan entered Latvia by truck with trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Tajikistan roadworthiness test for truck trailer, was detected. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of China was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, who has violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of China was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Russia, who was not in possession of valid for travelling to Russia identity document, was detected; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Morocco and who were not in possession of at least one parent's notarized consent to the child's departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of India, two - of Lithuania and one – of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one - of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
