On Thursday, June 20, officials of the State Border Guard prevented three people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total, 2471 people have been prevented from crossing the border illegally this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

47 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 29 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

  • Entry into Latvia was denied to 15 foreigners

Two citizens of Tajikistan, two of Albania, two of India and one of Turkey were denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova, Grebneva, Pāternieki and Riga airport border control points, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence. One citizen of Armenia, one of Uzbekistan, one of Belarus, because the foreigners did not have valid visas or residence permits, for one citizen of Moldova, because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document, and also one citizen of Kazakhstan, one of Russia, one of Belarus and one of Ukraine was denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • Four foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

At the Pāternieki border control point and Riga Airport, two citizens of Armenia, one of Belarus and one of Uzbekistan were detected who had violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the period of stay specified in the visa, did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the countries of the Schengen area. Persons were charged administratively.

  • Two persons were prohibited from leaving the country

Two non-citizens of Latvia who did not have valid travel documents, were found at the border control points of Grebņeva and Riga airport. Persons were prohibited from leaving the country.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for seven persons - three citizens of Latvia, three of Russia and one of Uzbekistan.

Officials of the State Border Guard have administratively charged 11 persons or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and naval transportation equipment - three citizens of Belarus, two of Latvia, two of Lithuania, two of Serbia, one of Russia and one of Kazakhstan.
