On Thursday, 20th of October, the State Border Guard officers had detected 52 offenders at the external borders and within the country.
At the external borders, 35 border offenders were detected, among them:
- 17 foreigners were refused entry to Latvia
At the Vientuli, Terehova, Silene, Grebneva and Riga Airport Border Control Points, entry into Latvia was refused to two Moldovan citizens as they had no valid visa or residence permit, to seven Moldovan and one Georgian citizen as they could not justify the purpose of entry and stay as well as to one Australian citizen as he did not have a valid travel document. Another four Ukrainian and two Russian citizens were refused entry to Latvia for security reasons. They were returned to the country of departure.
- Three foreigners were found in breach of residence conditions
One Tajik, one Vanuatu and one Ukrainian citizen were found at the Terehova and Riga Airport Border Control Points to have violated the conditions of stay (overstay of visa or visa-free regime, no valid visa or residence permit) in Schengen area countries. No administrative proceedings were initiated against the Vanuatu and Ukrainian nationals, the others were held administratively liable.
- Five nationals of Latvia refused exit
At the Riga Airport Border Control Point, two Latvian citizens, departing to London and one to Bristol,
whose documents were not valid for departure to the United Kingdom
and two Latvian citizens departing to Tel Aviv whose documents were not valid for departure to Israel. They have been refused exit from the country.
Five persons were found in breach of the rules on entry or residence during immigration control measures within the country: two Estonian, one Russian, one Lithuanian and one Kazakh citizen.
For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 12 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - four Belarusian, two Russian, two Tajik, one Kazakh, one Kyrgyz, one Romanian and one Ukrainian citizens.
