On Wednesday, February 21, officials of the State Border Guard detected 3 attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 26 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

6 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kirgizstan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, who have violated the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the citizen of Kirgizstan was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, who was not in possession of valid identity document for travelling to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Lithuania and two – of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Kazakhstan, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Italy, one – of Great Britain, one – of Romania and one – of Serbia.
