On Friday, June 21, officials of the State Border Guard prevented 17 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total, 2488 people have been prevented from crossing the border illegally this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

44 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 27 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

  • One wanted Latvian citizen was detained

One Latvian citizen arriving from the United Kingdom, who is wanted by the police, was detected at the border control point of the Riga Airport. The person was detained and handed over to the State Police officials.

  • Entry into Latvia was denied to 8 foreigners

Two Moldovan citizens were denied entry into Latvia at the Grebņeva and Pāternieki border control points, because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence. One Russian citizen, because the foreigner did not have a valid visa or residence permit, and two Russian, two Belarusian and one Ukrainian citizens were denied entry into Latvia for security reasons. Persons returned to the countries of departure.

  • Five foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

Four citizens of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan who had violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa, did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the countries of the Schengen area were found at the border control point of Grebņeva, Terehova and Riga airports. The aforementioned persons were administratively charged for the violations.

  • Two Latvian citizens were prohibited from leaving the country

At the border control point of Riga Airport, two Latvian citizens traveling to the United Kingdom were detected, whose travel documents were not valid. They were are prohibited from leaving the country.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found on two citizens of Tajikistan.

Officials of the State Border Guard have administratively charged 15 persons or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and naval transportation equipment - six citizens of Belarus, two of Latvia, one of Azerbaijan, one of Belgium, one of Kyrgyzstan, one of Moldova, one of Serbia, one of Tajikistan and one of Sweden.
