On Saturday, June 22, officials of the State Border Guard prevented 0 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total, 2488 people have been prevented from crossing the border illegally this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

34 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 14 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

  • One wanted Latvian citizen was detained

One Latvian citizen leaving for the United Kingdom was found at the border control point of Riga Airport, who is wanted by the police. The person was detained and handed over to the State Police officials.

  • Entry into Latvia was denied to seven foreigners

Two Moldovan citizens were denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova, Pāternieki and Riga airport border control points because the foreigners could not substantiate the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, as well as two Russian, two Ukrainian and one Moldovan citizens were denied entry to Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • Two foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

At Terehova and Pāternieki border checkpoints, one Moldovan and one Russian citizen were found to have violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the visa-free period of residence, did not have a valid visa or residence permit) in the countries of the Schengenarea. The aforementioned persons were administratively charged for the violations.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for two persons - one citizen of Russia and one citizen of Ukraine.

Officials of the State Border Guard have administratively charged 18 persons or prohibited them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and naval transportation equipment - eight citizens of Belarus, three citizens of Moldova, two citizens of Kazakhstan, two citizens of Latvia, one citizen of Romania, one of Ukraine and one of Sweden.
