On Friday, February 23, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 26 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia (female), who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to eight citizens of Moldova, two – of India and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
one citizen of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Tajikistan and three – of Uzbekistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Tajikistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document and one citizen of Latvia (female), who was not in possession of valid travel document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons – four citizens of Uzbekistan, four – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia and one - of Belarus.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two - of Moldova,
two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Italy and one – of Uzbekistan.
