On Sunday, June 23, officials of the State Border Guard prevented 22 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total, 2510 people have been prevented from crossing the border illegally this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

56 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 27 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

• Two foreigners with forged documents were found

Two citizens of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with a car and a trailer were detected at the Grebņeva border control point, who presented fake technical inspection tickets for the Uzbekistan car and trailer to the border guards. The aforementioned persons were charged administrativel for the violations. The forged documents have been removed.

• Entry into Latvia was denied to 11 foreigners

One citizen of North Macedonia was denied entry into Latvia at the Grebņeva border control point because the foreigner had already stayed in the territory of the Schengen area member states for 90 days during the previous 180 days, two citizens of Georgia, one citizen of Moldova and one citizen of Uzbekistan were denied entry into Latvia at the Terehova and Riga airport border control points because the foreigners could not justify their entry and purpose and conditions of residence, as well as four Russian and one Ukrainian citizen, because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, while one Russian citizen was denied entry to Latvia at the Pāternieki border control point due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the countries of departure.

• Five foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

One citizen of Kazakhstan, one of Belarus, one of Canada, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of Comoros who had violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa, did not have a valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the visa-free regime, fixed period of residence) in the countries of the Schengen area. The proceedings in the case of the administrative violation of the Comoros citizen were not initiated, the other persons were brought administratively charged.

• One Latvian citizen was prohibited from leaving the country

At the border control point of Riga Airport, one Latvian citizen traveling to the United Kingdom was detected, whose travel document was not valid for travel to the United Kingdom. The person was prohibited from leaving the country.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for 12 persons - seven citizens of Estonia, three of Lithuania, one of Latvia and one of Russia.

Officials of the State Border Guard have administratively charged 17 persons or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and navigational equipment - seven citizens of Belarus, three Moldovans, two Latvians, two Ukrainians, one Russian, one Kosovo and one Czech citizen.
