On Monday, February 26, officials of the State Border Guard detected 4 attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 58 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 40 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

At the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan, who presented to border guards a forged Tajikistan lorry roadworthiness test certificate and Uzbekistan roadworthiness test certificates for lorry and trailer, were detected. The persons were subjected to administrative liability. The forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Georgia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova due to security reasons and at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of China were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizens of Russia was not initiated, the other citizens were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – four citizens of Uzbekistan and one - of India.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, two – of Ukraine, one – of Estonia, one - of Lithuania, one – of India, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
