On Sunday, July 28, the officials of the State Border Guard prevented 20 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total 3471 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

49 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 26 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

• Two foreigners with forged documents were found

At the Terehova and Pāternieki border checkpoints, one Romanian and one Uzbek citizen leaving Latvia were found to have presented forged Latvian International Vehicle Insurance policies to the border guards. The aforementioned persons were brought to administrative responsibility. The forged documents have been removed.

• Entry into Latvia was denied to 10 foreigners

One citizen of Moldova and two citizens of Azerbaijan were denied entry into Latvia at the border control points of Grebneva, Terekhova, Paternieki and Riga airports, because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, one citizen of Serbia and three citizens of Russia, because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit, two citizens of Moldova , because foreigners are prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen area countries, as well as one Moldovan citizen was denied entry into Latvia due to security reasons. The aforementioned persons were returned to the countries of departure.

• Six foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

One citizen of Serbia, one of Ukraine, one of Kyrgyzstan, one of Azerbaijan, one of Tajikistan and one of Georgia who violated the conditions of residence (did not have a valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the period of residence specified in the visa, exceeded the visa-free regime) fixed period of residence) in the countries of the Schengen area. The aforementioned persons were brought to administrative responsibility.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for six persons - three citizens of Morocco, two of Estonia and one of Latvia.

Officials of the State Border Guard have called 17 persons to administrative responsibility or prohibited them from crossing the border - seven from Belarus, two from Uzbekistan, one from Russia, one from Kazakhstan, one from Kyrgyzstan, one from Moldova, one from the Netherlands, one from Poland, one from Romania, and one from Romania and one for a citizen of Tajikistan.
