On Sunday, March 3, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 126 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 1 person has been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, when performing passenger profiling one citizen of Congo (female), who presented to border guards a forged Belgian ID card, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using the forged document.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

 

at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one holder of a British 1951 Convention travel document, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia (female), who was not in possession of valid travel document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons – five citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of India, one – of Morocco and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Estonia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Kirgizstan, one - of Moldova, one – of the Netherlands, one – of Turkmenistan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
