On Wednesday, July 31, the officials of the State Border Guard prevented 13 people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total 3613 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.
47 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 11 border violators were found on the external borders, including:
• Two foreigners with forged documents were found
At the Terekhova border control point, two Uzbek citizens entering Latvia who presented fake Uzbekistani technical inspection passes to the border guards were detected. The persons were brought to administrative responsibility and returned to the country of departure.
• Entry into Latvia was denied to five foreigners
Two Moldovan and two Georgian citizens were denied entry into Latvia at the border control point of Riga Airport, because the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of entry and residence, while one Ukrainian citizen was denied entry to Latvia at the Pāternieki border control point due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the countries of departure.
• Departure from the country was denied to two Latvian citizens
One Latvian citizen traveling to Belarus who did not have a valid travel document was detected at the Pāternieki border control point, while one underage Latvian citizen traveling to Turkey was detected at the Riga airport, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country. Persons are prohibited from leaving the country.
During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for 13 persons - four citizens of India, two of Lithuania, two of Ukraine, one of Russia, one of Estonia, one of Japan, one of Kazakhstan and one of Pakistan.
Officials of the State Border Guard have called 23 persons to administrative responsibility or prevented them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and navigation equipment - six citizens of Belarus, four of Latvia, three of Moldova, two of Russia, two of Lithuania, two of Kyrgyzstan, two of Germany, one of Australia and one of Ukraine.
