On Friday, 3 September, State Border Guard officers detected 33 offenders at the external borders and within the State.

10 border offenders were detected at the external borders, including:

  • Five foreigners refused entry to Latvia

One Russian and one Belarusian citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the Terehova, Silene and Riga Airport border control points as the foreigners did not have valid visas or residence permits, as well as one Ukrainian, one Kyrgyz and one Tajik citizen as the foreigners could not justify the purpose of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • Two Latvian nationals were refused exit

At the border control point of Riga Airport, one Latvian citizen departing to Antalya and one to Aberdeen were found not to have valid travel documents (documents not valid due to change of surname). They were refused exit from the country.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, 10 persons were found in breach of the rules on entry or residence - six Estonian, three Uzbek and one Lithuanian citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 11 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - four Belarusian, two Estonian, two Ukrainian, one Latvian, one Russian and one Lithuanian citizen.
