On Monday, March 4, 13 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 139 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 1 person has been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

20 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one citizen of Belarus, who presented to border guards a forged Montenegrin International Vehicle Insurance Policy, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability. The forged document was seized within the framework of the administrative procedure.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits and one citizen of Ukraine – as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

six citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Russia, one - of Great Britain and one – of Malazia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Ukraine, two - of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of India and one – of Syria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Great Britain, one – of Serbia, one – of Uzbekistan and one - of Moldova.
