On Sunday, August 4, the officials of the State Border Guard prevented two people from illegally crossing the Latvia – Belarus border. In total 3702 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the border this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 people were not prevented from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours. A total of 12 people have been admitted this year for humanitarian reasons.

38 offenders were found on the external borders and inside the country. 17 border violators were found on the external borders, including:

• Entry into Latvia was denied to 11 foreigners

One citizen of Uzbekistan and one citizen of Ukraine were denied entry into Latvia at the border control points of Terekhova, Pāternieki and Riga airports, because the foreigners did not have a valid visa and residence permit, two citizens of Russia, because the foreigners did not have a valid travel document, one citizen of Moldova and one citizen of Ukraine, because the foreigners could not justify their entry. and the purpose and conditions of residence, for one citizen of Sweden and one citizen of Moldova, because foreigners are prohibited from entering and residing in the territory of the Schengen area countries, as well as entry into Latvia was denied to one citizen of Russia and two citizens of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

• Two foreigners were found to have violated the conditions of residence

One Indian and one Ukrainian citizen were found at the border control point of Riga Airport, who had violated the conditions of residence (exceeded the time of residence specified in the visa, exceeded the time of residence specified in the visa-free regime) in the countries of the Schengen area. The persons brought to administrative responsibility.

During the implementation of immigration control measures within the country, violations of the rules of entry or residence were found for five persons - one citizen of Latvia, one citizen of Estonia, one citizen of Lithuania, one citizen of Burundi and one citizen of Mali.

Officials of the State Border Guard have called 14 persons to administrative responsibility or prohibited them from crossing the border for violations in the field of vehicles and navigational equipment - four from Belarus, two from Germany, one from Latvia, one from Russia, one from Lithuania, one from Azerbaijan, one from Kazakhstan, one from Moldova, one from Romania and one from for a Hungarian citizen.
