On Sunday, 4 September, State Border Guard officers detected 47 offenders at the external borders and within the State.

24 border crossers were detected at external borders, including:

  • Three foreigners with forged documents

At the Terehova border control point, one Belarusian citizen was found to present a forged Ukrainian driving licence and one Russian citizen was found to present a forged Russian vehicle registration certificate to border guards, while at the Ventspils Division, during passenger profiling, one Lithuanian citizen was found to present a forged identification card of the Republic of Lithuania to border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized in the framework of the criminal proceedings.

  • Seven foreigners refused entry to Latvia

Four Russian, one Ukrainian and one Moldovan citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the border control points of Vientuli, Terehova and Riga Airport because they did not have valid visas or residence permits, as well as one Georgian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose of entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • Three foreigners were found in breach of the conditions of residence

One Russian, one Belarusian and one Ukrainian citizen were found at the Paternieki border control point and Riga Airport border control point to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed the visa-free period, absence of a valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. They were held administratively liable.

  • Two Latvian nationals were refused exit

At the Riga Airport border control point, one Latvian citizen leaving for Dubai was found to have no valid travel document ( surname changed), while at the Silene border control point one Latvian non-citizen was found to have no valid travel document (registered as lost or stolen). The person was refused exit from the country.

Two persons - one Uzbek and one Lithuanian citizen - were found in breach of the rules on entry or residence while carrying out immigration control measures within the country.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 20 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - five Russian, four Latvian, three Belarusian, two Moldovan, two Ukrainian, two Latvian, one Estonian and one Romanian citizen.
