On Monday, 5 September, State Border Guard officers detected 51 offenders at the external borders and within the country.

30 border offenders were detected at the external borders, including:

  • One foreigner with forged documents

One German national was detected at the Terehowa BCP who presented a forged Polish driving licence to border guards. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents. The forged documents were seized as part of the criminal proceedings.

  • Eight foreigners refused entry to Latvia

Three Kazakh, two Belarusian, one Russian and one Georgian citizens were refused entry to Latvia at the Vientuli border control point, the Terehova border control point, the Paternieki border control point, the Silene border control point and the Riga Airport border control point because the foreigners did not have valid visas or residence permits, and one Belarusian citizen because the foreigner could not justify the purpose of entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • 10 foreigners were established in breach of residence conditions

Nine Uzbek and one Tajik citizen were detected at the Riga Airport border control point for violating the conditions of stay (overstay of visa, no valid visa or residence permit) in Schengen area countries. Three Uzbek nationals were not prosecuted for administrative offences, the others were held administratively liable.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, five persons were found to be in breach of the rules on entry or residence: two Kyrgyz, one Uzbek, one Chinese and one Lithuanian citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 16 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border five Belarusian, four Moldovan, three Latvian, two Russian, one Estonian and one German citizen.
