On Tuesday, February 6, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 24 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

9 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Turkey and one - of Ukraine were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Turkey was not initiated, the citizen of Ukraine was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, three minor citizens of Latvia leaving the country, who were not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
