On Tuesday, 6 September, State Border Guard officers detected 38 offenders at the external borders and within the country.

At the external borders, 17 border offenders were detected, including:

  • Three foreigners were refused entry to Latvia

Two Russian and one Belarusian citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the border control posts of Vientuli, Terehova and Paternieki because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit. They were returned to the country of departure.

  • Two foreigners were found in breach of the residence conditions

One Ukrainian and one British citizen were found at the border checkpoints of Grebneva and Riga Airport to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed the visa or visa-free period) in Schengen area countries. No administrative proceedings were initiated against the British citizen, the other persons were held administratively liable.

  • One Latvian citizen was refused exit from the country

One Latvian citizen departing for London was detected at the Riga Airport border control point, whose document is not valid for departure to the United Kingdom. The person has been refused exit from the country.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, 10 persons were found in breach of the rules on entry or residence - three Tajik, three Uzbek, two Lithuanian, one Estonian and one Russian citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 11 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - six Belarusian, two Uzbek, two Moldovan, one Russian, one Latvian and one Moldovan citizen.
