On Wednesday, February 7, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted citizen of Latvia was detained

One citizen of Latvia, who is wanted by the Police, was detected in Ķekava region during immigration control within the state. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, two – of Serbia and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. While two citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 15 foreigners

eight citizens of Russia, two – of Belarus, two – of Georgia, two – of Uzbekistan and one - of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits and valid travel document, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the six citizens of Russia, two – of Georgia and one – of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Latvia and one – of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 15 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, two – of Latvia and one – of Moldova.
