On Wednesday, 7 September, State Border Guard officers detected 57 offenders at the external borders and within the country.

27 border offenders were detected at the external borders, including:

  • One wanted person apprehended

One Latvian citizen entering Latvia, who is wanted by the police, was detected at the Grebneva border control point. The person was detained and handed over to the State Police.

  • Five foreign nationals refused entry to Latvia

Two Russian citizens were refused entry to Latvia at the Terehova and Riga Airport BCP because they did not have a valid visa or residence permit and three Uzbek citizens because they could not justify the purpose of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • Six foreigners were found in breach of the conditions of residence

Three Kazakh, two Georgian and one Ukrainian citizens were detected at Terehova and Riga Airport border control points for violating the conditions of stay (overstaying the visa or visa-free period) in Schengen area countries. No administrative proceedings were initiated against one Kazakh and one Ukrainian citizen, the others were held administratively liable.

  • One person was refused exit from the country

One Estonian citizen departing for Tbilisi was found at Riga Airport border control point without a valid travel document. The person was refused exit from the country.

In the course of immigration control measures within the country, nine persons were found in breach of the entry or residence rules - three Lithuanian, one Belarusian, one Indian, one Kyrgyz, one Ukrainian, one Uzbek and one Latvian citizen.

For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 19 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - seven citizens of Ukraine, five of Belarus, two of Latvia, one of Russia, one of Greece, one of Kazakhstan, one of Moldova and one of Uzbekistan.
