On Thursday, February 8, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

12 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Kirgizstan and two – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits; while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Columbia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay, as well as to one more citizen of Columbia, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

four citizens of Russia were detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the two citizens of Russia was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – two citizens of Moldova, one – of Estonia, one – of Morocco, one – of Syria and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Azerbaijan.
