On Thursday, 8 September, State Border Guard officers detected 45 offenders at the external borders and within the country.
At the external borders, 17 border offenders were detected, including:
- Four foreigners were refused entry to Latvia
At the Riga Airport border control point, one Sierra Leonean citizen was refused entry to Latvia because the foreigners did not have a valid visa or residence permit and three Azerbaijani citizens because the foreigners could not justify the purpose of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- Five foreigners were found in breach of the conditions of residence
Three Russian, one Kazakh and one Ukrainian citizens were found at the Terehova, Grebneva and Silene BCPs to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed visa) in Schengen area countries. They were held administratively liable.
Three persons - two Moldovan and one Pakistani citizen - were found to be in breach of the rules of entry or residence when carrying out immigration control measures within the country.
State Border Guard officials held 23 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border for infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels - seven Belarusian, five Russian, three Lithuanian, two Moldovan, two Ukrainian, one Latvian, one Estonian, one Serbian and one Tajik citizen.
