On Friday, February 9, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected
AT the Port of Ventspils, during the profiling of passengers departing by ferry for Sweden one citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards a forged UK driver's license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated, the forged document was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and two – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visas or residence permits. At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Russia and two - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a one citizen of Uzbekistan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – three citizens of Estonia, two – of Russia, two - of the Georgia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Morocco.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, five – of Moldova, three – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Germany, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Ukraine.
