On Friday, 9 September, State Border Guard officers detected 47 offenders at the external borders and within the country.
At the external borders 23 border offenders were detected, including:
- Detained three wanted persons
Two Latvian citizens entering Latvia were detected at the Riga Airport border control point and are wanted by the police, while one Latvian citizen entering Latvia from Sweden was detected at the Ventspils Unit and is wanted by the police. The persons were detained and handed over to the State Police.
- Seven foreign nationals refused entry to Latvia
At the Vientuli, Silene and Riga Airport border control points, two Belarusian and one Russian citizen were refused entry to Latvia because they did not have valid visas or residence permits, two Azerbaijani and one Uzbek citizen because they could not justify the purpose of their entry and stay, and one US citizen because he was refused entry to and stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- Nine foreigners were found in breach of their residence conditions
At the Vientuli, Terehova, Silene and Riga Airport border control points, four Russian, three Uzbek, one Azerbaijani and one Belarusian citizens were found to have violated the conditions of stay (overstayed visa, no valid visa or residence permit) in the Schengen area countries. The persons were held administratively liable.
Four persons were found in breach of the entry or residence conditions during immigration control measures within the country: two Uzbek, one Estonian and one Gambian nationals.
For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held 16 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - four Russian, four Latvian, three Belarusian, two Moldovan, one Estonian, one Lithuanian and one Tajik citizen.
