On Monday, January 18, at the Terehova Border Control Point border guards detained another bribe-giver – offering a bribe of €150, a citizen of Tajikistan attempted to bribe the border guards.
During the border check on persons and vehicles crossing the state border, the border guards detected a citizen of Tajikistan entering Latvia, who wanted to cross the state border with a car and a trailer, which had not undergone the national technical inspection of vehicles in accordance with the established procedure.
The driver repeatedly pointed out to the border guards a folder of documents containing three 50-euro banknotes intended as a bribe in order the border guards allow to cross the state border with a car and a trailer, which have not undergone the national technical inspection of vehicles in accordance with the established procedure.
Criminal proceedings were initiated for bribery pursuant to Section 323(1) of the Criminal Law and the criminal case file was sent to the Ludza District Prosecution Office with a proposal to initiate criminal prosecution against the suspected citizen of Tajikistan.
