On Monday, April 10, 36 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the Latvian - Belarusian border, while a total – 1481 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, no one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 112 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 10, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 13 foreigners
two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Belarus were detected at the Silene and the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by three citizens of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 10 persons - four citizens of Estonia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Serbia.
