On Wednesday, April 12, 4 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1514 persons have been stopped this year. A total 113 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 12, officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one non-citizen of Latvia entered from Gothenburg, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners

at the Silene, the Terehova and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Belarus was detected at the Silene Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan and one – of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – twelve citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, one – of Israel and one – of Romania.
