On Thursday, April 13, 44 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1555 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, ten persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 123 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 13, officials of the State Border Guard detected 63 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

42 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

at the Pāternieki, the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one -  of Moldova and one - of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Three more citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 8 foreigners

four citizens of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Belarus and one – of Georgia were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of valid travel document (the document has been reported as stolen or lost), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - three citizens of Syria, two – of Georgia, one – of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Austria, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
