On Friday, April 14, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1598 persons have been stopped this year. 123 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 14, officials of the State Border Guard detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Silene, the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Two more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Moldova, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Jordanian were detected at the Terehova, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two - of Azerbaijan, two – of Kirgizstan, two – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
