On Saturday, April 15, 22 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1620 persons have been stopped this year. 123 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 15, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country.
27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 22 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Moldova and one – of Serbia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to 3 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; to seven citizens of Moldova, two – of Serbia and one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Four more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Moldova and one – of Great Britain were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - three citizens of Estonia, three - of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Latvia, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Hungary and one – of Uzbekistan.
