On Sunday, April 16, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1650 persons have been stopped during this year. 123 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons a total this year.

On April 16, officials of the State Border Guard detected 67 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point 1 citizen of Serbia, who presented to border guards forged Serbian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Silene, the Grebņeva and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, to one - of Kirgizstan and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, two – of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one - of Kazakhstan were detected at the Terehova and the Grebņeva Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - four citizens of Estonia, three - of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Azerbaijan, three – of Lithuania, three – of Ukraine, two – of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Moldova, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Germany, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Montenegro, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
