On Wednesday, April 17, 50 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1257 persons have been stopped this year.
Due to humanitarian reasons, 0 persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; a total 7 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two Afghan citizens were identified as presenting forged Polish and Romanian ID Cards to border guards during passenger profiling. Criminal proceedings were initiated for concealing the identity of persons and using forged documents.
- 1 wanted non-citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one non-citizen of Latvia entered the country, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to four citizen of Moldova, one – of Georgia and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. While at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen (female) of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, and one citizen of Latvia, who is prohibited to exit from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – three citizens of Lithuania, two – of Russia and one - of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – nine citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Israel and one – of Kazakhstan.
