On Tuesday, April 18, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1694 persons have been stopped this year. 125 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 3, officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from Dublin, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Russia was detected at the Grebņeva Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons - three citizens of Tajikistan, two – of Estonia, one – of Russia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Serbia and one – of Ukraine.
