On Wednesday, April 19, 43 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1737 persons have been stopped during this year. 125 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons a total this year.
On April 19, officials of the State Border Guard detected 52 offenders at external borders and within the country.
40 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Silene Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 22 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Tajikistan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to 16 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. Three more citizens of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
seven citizens of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Latvia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 7 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania and one - of Ukraine.
