On Thursday, April 20, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1748 persons have been stopped this year. 128 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 20, officials of the State Border Guard detected 68 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia departing for London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Turkish, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova and two – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents and two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Moldova and one - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Ukraine and one – of Kirgizstan were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Kazakhstan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London and one – for Manchester without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents as well as one citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 19 persons - 13 citizens of Moldova, two – of Vietnam, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Georgia, one – of Moldova, one – of Mongolia and one – of Germany.
