On Friday, April 21, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1769 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, three persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 131 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 21, officials of the State Border Guard detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to five citizens of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine – as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Serbia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents and to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Three more citizens of Russia and one - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Russia, one - of Kazakhstan and one – of Belarus were detected at the Silene Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Silene Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, who was not in possession of valid travel document (the document has expired), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three - of Lithuania, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
