On Saturday, April 22, 57 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1826 persons have been stopped during this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, six persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 137 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 22, officials of the State Border Guard detected 74 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

38 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Latvia, who presented to border guards forged Polish driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • 1 wanted persons was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 24 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Vientuļi Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Cuba, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to 19 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Ukraine was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - three citizens of Ukraine, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 28 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – Russia, two – of Estonia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – Kazakhstan, one- of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Serbia, one – of Tajikistan and one - of German.
