On Sunday, April 23, 16 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1842 persons have been stopped this year. 137 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 23, officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Silene and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

two citizens of Georgia and one – of Ukraine were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul without valid for travelling to Turkish document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Russia and one – of Lithuania.
