On Monday, April 24, 28 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1870 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, seven persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 144 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On April 24, officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country.
29 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Turkeу, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Moldova, one - of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Kirgizstan.
