On Tuesday, April 25, 39 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 1909 persons have been stopped this year. Due to humanitarian reasons, eight persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 153 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On April 25, officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

31 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one – of Azerbaijan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to four citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Two more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine and two – of Turkey were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document and one citizen of Latvia departing for London, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two - of Moldova, one - of Latvia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Kirgizstan.
